can you explain a bit on how to watch your #7, Hua Jianghu. Does it matter which order? There seems to be quite a bit.

Each Hua Jianghu series is its' own story, although characters from another series will occasionally guest appear, it does have a lot of Chinese cultural background to each story so some of them might be be missed if you dont know them, kind of like sticking chopsticks in a bowl of rice, it is considered offensive as it can be compared with offering prayers to the dead with incense at a meal or like me going to the USA and not knowing that you have to give tips otherwise you are in deadly trouble (my country is optional, since the waitperson does not rely on tips)
You can watch each series in any order you like, I would recommend watching them (the first season) by the year they were released, but it is up to you whatever order you want to watch it
As to your other question, I dont watch every donghua out there, so in this instance I dont know the answer

In the novel he likes to tease Xu Xin and is very protective of her even though he is mindful of family comes first, it wasnt really that focused on, since the head of the family is still the grandfather and everything is decided by him, Xu Xin is his favourite
All Xu family members are required to attend public schools and cannot mention their family ties with the Xu family to give them a "grounded" education, which is why it is the differences between the novel and donghua is very great. He did warn Luo Feng off, but he wasnt that snobbish lol
